Default What music to play during drinks reception and meal?

    Hiya

Wondered if anyone could help and give some suggestions of what kind of music we should play during the drinks reception and the meal? We are getting a PA system for the speeches and I didn't want to hire any live musicians.

H2B and I were thinking of classical versions of popular songs but I don't want to go with that before I have thought about all the options.

Got ages to think about it but my mind is blank.

    Please help!!

    xx

We've been told just to make a cd full of our fav songs, think she said make sure we have about 2 hours worth. I think it's a good idea to have this as theres nothing worse than a room full of people eating, knives and forks hitting off plates etc and no one really having the chance to talk because they're too busy eating! We are doing the same as you mrsandersontobe. We put a bit on our rsvps for folk to name a song and we will download onto our iPod and plug it into the venues sound system for during our meal. Not sure about you but we have had a few rsvps with no song - booooo!

Classical versions of popular songs is a nice idea. We are actually hiring a string quartet but we are asking them to play pop songs, songs from films, Beatles songs etc during the drinks reception for fun.

Haven't thought too much, but I reckon some swing music like Frank Sinatra would be nice, and maybe something jazz like Nina Simone?
