    Default Marriage allowance on tax?

    Hi!

I make around 9,500 a year from my part time job, while my husband works full time. I recently found out about marriage allowance, where I can share the remainder of my personal allowance with my husband. I was wondering, how much will I gain from this? I have looked at this after tax calculator but I can't quite work out how much we would make in with in comparison to without it. Does anyone have some numbers I could use? It would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks!
    Kiera

Marriage Allowance lets you transfer 1,190 of your Personal Allowance to your husband, wife or civil partner - if they earn more than you. This reduces their tax by up to 238 in the tax year (6 April to 5 April the next year). To benefit as a couple, you (as the lower earner) must have an income of 11,850 or less.
