    Default Wedding Officiant - rules?

Getting married next August and was talking about hiring someone to do the ceremony. My mum suggested my uncle perform the ceremony as he's a lay-preacher (it's not his main job but he is a preacher). However, he is from Zambia and will be travelling over for the wedding - just wondering if someone from another country is allowed to perform ceremonies in Scotland? Or if anyone knows of anywhere I can get more information on rules/regulations pertaining to this that would be super helpful

I'm not sure that would be classed as a legal marriage but it would probably be best to check with your local Registry office as I'm sure they would be able to advise who can legally officiate at a marriage. If not you could maybe have your Uncle perform the ceremony and do the legal part at a Registry office later.

That totally makes sense, I'll contact my local registry office and see what I can find out thanks!
