Default Mr & Mrs Valient 25.9.2014 - Supplier recommendations

    Hey all

Well I got married a week ago today and it was the most amazing day.

Just finishing off my wedding report, but in the meantime, thought I would give my supplier recommendations:

Dress – from Debut Debenhams Occasion Wear department. I absolutely loved my dress from the moment I saw it – I had tried on a few other dresses in proper bridal stores but they all felt too fussy and whilst I liked some parts of these dresses, I didn’t like other parts, and thought, why would I pay to alter an already expensive dress The dress I chose just felt like me, fitted me perfectly instantly and I wasn’t disappointed on the day – I felt elegant and glamourous but still me. And hubby was pleased as I hadn’t spend thousands on a dress haha. He also said it showed off my bum nicely, perv!

Veil – I bought from Yuri C Wedding Shoppe through Etsy website – I initially didn’t want a veil as I always thought they looked too fussy but then I saw a bride wearing a long simple one and I was sold! This one from Etsy was so classy, much much cheaper than buying from a bridal shop and the delivery time was only a week or so. I loved it so much

Wedding fan – I’m not a huge flower person and knew I didn’t want to hold a bouquet on the day. As my hubby is Latin and we were having a Scottish/Latin theme, I thought a fan would be perfect! I ordered mine from Bespoke Vintage Castle through Etsy website, one for me and one for my bridesmaid. They were white feathered fans with little satin rosebuds at the bottom – totally gorgeous, really reasonable and just finished off our outfits perfectly. The service from Bespoke Vintage Castle was also second to none and delivery time was really quick.

Photographer – Hannah Love Photography. Hannah is actually my bridesmaids sister-in-law and she is just amazing – she really has a knack for capturing the emotion and feelings of the day and her shots are just wonderful, she has some really unique ideas. She knows what she is doing but directs everyone in such a friendly unassuming way, she is so humble. You will not be disappointed if you book her for your big day

Kilts – From MacGregor and MacDuff. Hubby bought a new kilt for the day (Forbes tartan which is my mum’s maiden name) and we hired out kilts for his best man and my dad. The service was amazing – the staff were really thorough ensuring that all the measurements were correct and nothing was too much trouble for them – the guys were all coming in to get measured and pick up at different times and this was no problem at all. The shop was always heaving when we went in – sign of a popular store!

Cake toppers – I bought these from Emma’s Cake Boutique through Ebay – you selected the skin colour, hair colour, hairstyle, kilt tartan etc and then they got delivered. Quick delivery time and very reasonably priced. We just ordered basic ones from ebay as they matched our style, but I’m sure if you wanted more bespoke ones she would do these for you. We thought they were so cute and very like us! Really set off our cake nicely.

Caterers – Saxby and Revell. These guys were superb – Sam really listened to what we wanted to provide food wise and came up with some great ideas to complement our own. Always so pleasant, they were very thorough in helping us organize the logistics of the food part of the day and so professional. Most importantly, their food was absolutely delicious. The flavours were delicious, the presentation was amazing and they were so friendly towards all the guests. All the guests have commented at how great the food was – it was luxurious, plentiful and at a great price too. Cant thank them enough!

Bar – Premier Bars. Alan from Premier bars ran a really cheap bar for us at the Town Hall – all spirits and a mixer were £2.50. He also let us buy our own wine and serve this at the tables which was great as so many bars charge a fortune for their own bottled wine. Alan was a lovely and his staff were really friendly and professional – when I arrived at the venue they poured me a double vodka, just because, must have looked like I needed it ha!

Live music – Bob Leslie is a family friend of hubbys and plays Scottish and Spanish songs on his guitar with his singing partner Bernadette. He sounded amazing playing in the balcony room of the Town Hall during the drinks reception and loads of guests commented on how original they sounded. If you want to hear Bob playing, he plays regularly at open mic nights across Glasgow including Avant Garde.

Ceilidh Band – Thistle Dubh Ceilidh Band – not one person was off the dance floor whilst these guys were on, really friendly, funny and so accommodating

Give me a shout if you'd like any further info on any of these
