    Default Crieff Hydro Hotel wedding

    Hello ladies,
I know how difficult it was to pick suppliers - often based on either far too much or far too little information. I recently got married on the 23rd August 2014 at Crieff and wanted to share my experience and recommendations. Firstly, no matter what you do - do it for yourselves and your family, and don't fuss - at the end of the day, you're there to legally marry the person you love in the eyes of the people you love. That said.. I love the small details!

Venue - Crieff Hydro Hotel, they've done probably thousands of weddings and they know what they're doing. Our wedding coordinator was Lauren with Garry as our master of ceremonies. Crieff was perfect for our big family focused wedding, nothing was too much to ask and everything was perfect! They're very experienced and friendly staff with the right attitude, can't recommend Crieff Hydro enough.

Celebrant - bit different but my mum, Gaynor McKernan, was ours as she recently trained to be an Independent Celebrant - someone who can marry you in whatever way/style/religion etc. you want. However, legally either a priest/registrar/humanist has to sign your marriage schedule, so my mum's best friend Muriel Henderson who is a humanist married us. Our ceremony was a personalised double-act between my mums, our readings were personally chosen by each individual doing the reading and I couldn't have asked for more.

Photographer - Jo Donaldson, based in Glasgow but travels. Offers all sorts of packages and is very flexible. I cannot recommend Jo highly enough (even though I haven't received the photo's yet!), I got on really well with her, we both had a laugh doing the couples shoot and she knows what she's doing. I would 100% recommend meeting with your photographer and if you like them, book them -if you get along it's a good start.

Florist - Sparrow & Rose (Lisa Hodgens) based in Glasgow but travels. I spent a lot of money on flowers (4 BMs, wedding for a 120 people) but it was worth it. I placed all my trust in Lisa as I had no specific flowers I wanted, and she chose flowers in a style and colour that worked beautifully.

Band - Empire, based in Glasgow but travels. This was difficult as the decision was based on youtube clips... but our dance floor was full the entire night and the band were brilliant - great communication, professionalism and most of all great musicians!

Cake - Big Bear Bakery based in Glasgow. These guys are not a wedding cake specialist, they're bakers - brilliant ones at that. We wanted taste not looks, and we also have a love for macaroons. Dominique made us a peach ombre cake as well as providing tray cakes and macaroons. Everything was delicious.

Hair - Carol Mollison based in Perth. Carol is a mobile hair dresser who did all our hair at my sisters wedding 6 years ago and she was brilliant yet again.

Make-up - Crieff Hydro Spa, lovely again

Rings - Blair & Sheridan, Glasgow. These are a design jewellers, my husband had designed my engagement ring alongside Douglas and Roddy and I designed my wedding band to fit accordingly. These guys are absolutely brilliant - can't recommend them enough. They're good guys, not swept up by the whole wedding industry, they were great and I love my rings. My husband got his grandfathers ring cut in half to form his wedding band also done by Blair & Sheridan - he gave the other half to his cousin.

Think those are all the suppliers. Good luck brides to be!

Thanks ladies! I forgot ... one of the most important aspects - the dress!! I went for a Mori Lee gown from Angelique Lamont in Glasgow - can't recommend them highly enough. The women are so friendly, skilled and just lovely. Got 3 out of 4 of my bridesmaids dresses from them too - they're great!
