Hi girls. I am going to start my wedding report, however, I will add to it in the coming weeks when I see the video and photos as it has only been a month after the wedding and I have yet to see them. I will probably write a wee section every other day. Today I will report on hair and make-up. Let me know if it is too detailed and I will hold back. If you want to know anything in particular just let me know.
A couple of days before the wedding I went to NKD for waxing and would highly recommend. After an HOUR and several treatments later I was silky smooth and hair free that lasted for 3 weeks after the treatments. I also had my nails done by Lisa and Tracey at Manhattan Nails in Buchanan Galleries. The girls had tried every imaginable variation of a French manicure thinkable on the run up to the wedding. I ended up opting for a basic shellac French manicure with negligee base with creampuff coloured tips with a topcoat of gold VIP shimmer to glam them up a bit. As I had had a few shellacs before my nails were really quite long so no need for a false tip. I was delighted with the results and the nails lasted for weeks too. I would highly recommend NKD and Lisa / Tracey at Manhattan Nails Buchanan Galleries.
So, the morning of the wedding I was up at 6.30am. I had been sightseeing the day before the wedding with Spanish family who came over for the wedding. so slept soundly. We saw Edinburgh and Glasgow in a day so no surprise I woke up with sore feet and aching legs. Silly me! The week before our wedding had been scorching and luckily it had cooled down a little on the day as I was worried that I would be sweating in my dress – not a good look on a bride! To tackle that I bought Sure Maximum Protection. At over £5 I wasn’t sure if it was worth it. It was well worth the money as it was still a really warm day. If you are not wearing tights you might also want to invest in Lanacane gel for your legs, not very glamorous but great if it a warm day and/or a warm dress to help you stay comfortable.
I headed over to my local hairdressers called Bladerunners in Moodiesburn at 7.30am. I had considered getting in a wedding hair specialist but my cousin had had her hair pinned up for special occasions before and could not recommend them highly enough. I had had a few trials which were all great, I was just indecisive. The shop opened early for us and at less than half the price of many of the specialists I was so delighted with their work. They took so much care and attention to ensure that everything was just right. Music was put on to get the party atmosphere going and we had a wee glass of champagne. I really am so glad that Louis and the girls were able to do all of our hair and would highly recommend them.
After my hair was done I went home and chilled out. Craig Alexander Wilson arrived soon after to start make-up and started work on the bridesmaids straight away. The make-up was perfect and stayed put all day even though it was warm. I have a tendency to have panda eyes by the end of the night but there was not even a hint of a dark circle when I headed to bed. In the morning Crag completed 3 bridesmaids, my mum, gran and myself; not to mention a wee bit of gloss for my wee flower girls who were quick off the mark to ask Craig when was their turn. Ha ha! I am sooooo glad Craig could do our make-up. He was so helpful on the day by fixing my veil and pinning flower girl’s hair accessories. He was chilled out and good fun to be around. A few tips he gave was to use hairspray on your veil when it is lying on the bed – he said it helps it sit better and not to fold in on itself. He just gave the whole thing a light spray before placing the comb in place. Second tip is if wearing lipstick that YSL is great, especially Rouge Pur Couture lipstick (square shaped lipstick – not the shine one). It was comfortable all day and stayed put, even after kissing, drinking and eating. It only needed to be reapplied a couple of times and Craig warned me – never allow anyone to take my photo without my lippy on. I stuck to that advice!
Well that’s me over and out for today… will update the thread soon.
