Default Just married! Best day of my life! THE REPORT!

Hi girls. I am going to start my wedding report, however, I will add to it in the coming weeks when I see the video and photos as it has only been a month after the wedding and I have yet to see them. I will probably write a wee section every other day. Today I will report on hair and make-up. Let me know if it is too detailed and I will hold back. If you want to know anything in particular just let me know.

A couple of days before the wedding I went to NKD for waxing and would highly recommend. After an HOUR and several treatments later I was silky smooth and hair free that lasted for 3 weeks after the treatments. I also had my nails done by Lisa and Tracey at Manhattan Nails in Buchanan Galleries. The girls had tried every imaginable variation of a French manicure thinkable on the run up to the wedding. I ended up opting for a basic shellac French manicure with negligee base with creampuff coloured tips with a topcoat of gold VIP shimmer to glam them up a bit. As I had had a few shellacs before my nails were really quite long so no need for a false tip. I was delighted with the results and the nails lasted for weeks too. I would highly recommend NKD and Lisa / Tracey at Manhattan Nails Buchanan Galleries.

So, the morning of the wedding I was up at 6.30am. I had been sightseeing the day before the wedding with Spanish family who came over for the wedding. so slept soundly. We saw Edinburgh and Glasgow in a day so no surprise I woke up with sore feet and aching legs. Silly me! The week before our wedding had been scorching and luckily it had cooled down a little on the day as I was worried that I would be sweating in my dress – not a good look on a bride! To tackle that I bought Sure Maximum Protection. At over £5 I wasn’t sure if it was worth it. It was well worth the money as it was still a really warm day. If you are not wearing tights you might also want to invest in Lanacane gel for your legs, not very glamorous but great if it a warm day and/or a warm dress to help you stay comfortable.

I headed over to my local hairdressers called Bladerunners in Moodiesburn at 7.30am. I had considered getting in a wedding hair specialist but my cousin had had her hair pinned up for special occasions before and could not recommend them highly enough. I had had a few trials which were all great, I was just indecisive. The shop opened early for us and at less than half the price of many of the specialists I was so delighted with their work. They took so much care and attention to ensure that everything was just right. Music was put on to get the party atmosphere going and we had a wee glass of champagne. I really am so glad that Louis and the girls were able to do all of our hair and would highly recommend them.

After my hair was done I went home and chilled out. Craig Alexander Wilson arrived soon after to start make-up and started work on the bridesmaids straight away. The make-up was perfect and stayed put all day even though it was warm. I have a tendency to have panda eyes by the end of the night but there was not even a hint of a dark circle when I headed to bed. In the morning Crag completed 3 bridesmaids, my mum, gran and myself; not to mention a wee bit of gloss for my wee flower girls who were quick off the mark to ask Craig when was their turn. Ha ha! I am sooooo glad Craig could do our make-up. He was so helpful on the day by fixing my veil and pinning flower girl’s hair accessories. He was chilled out and good fun to be around. A few tips he gave was to use hairspray on your veil when it is lying on the bed – he said it helps it sit better and not to fold in on itself. He just gave the whole thing a light spray before placing the comb in place. Second tip is if wearing lipstick that YSL is great, especially Rouge Pur Couture lipstick (square shaped lipstick – not the shine one). It was comfortable all day and stayed put, even after kissing, drinking and eating. It only needed to be reapplied a couple of times and Craig warned me – never allow anyone to take my photo without my lippy on. I stuck to that advice!

Well that’s me over and out for today… will update the thread soon.

Hi Laurabelle84 it was false lashes. They were so comfortable and they lasted all day and night. Craig did put them on... that reminds me of another tip that Craig gave us, after he put the glue on the lashes he waited half a minute so the glue went tacky before placing them on. I think the were Ardell lashes. He used a different lash on the BMs, Eyelure I think.

Rhona30 - I wish Craig Alexander Wilson was my big brother so he could do my make-up all the time. A very talented man in my opinion! He writes for the Sunday Mail magazine too about make-up, worth a peek.

Craig did my make up for the wedding too and I would highly recommend him, although I believe he is giving up wedding make up as he has another job, (will of course be honouring all bookings). I would contact him anyway if anyone is looking as this may have changed and I wouldn't want him to lose out on business.

He is great to have with you on the day and the make up was excellent.

So my last post was on hair and beauty, however, I forgot to mention my perfume. I was married on my birthday and my mum bought me a special perfume from Chanel called Gardenia. The lady who worked in Chanel House of Frasers talked us through all the different perfumes and the history of them. It was so fascinating. I am normally a Chance or Mademoiselle girl however, I loved that I had a special scent that reminds me of my wedding day. Loved it and if you love Chanel perfume like me I would suggest you smell some of their extra special perfumes in House of Fraser, Glasgow.

Second part of the report will be on flowers and cars. On the morning of the wedding we had over 12 people in and out picking up things, dropping off things, suppliers and the wedding party getting ready. My mum decided to order in breakfast from Craigend Nursery near Condorrat & Mollinsburn. It had yogurt, copious amounts of berries and fresh fruit, granola, Danish pastries, croissants, cream cheese and salmon bagels, cheese and meats. It was really amazing. Almost every unit in the kitchen was filled up with all this lovely fruit. It was a great idea and everyone was able to hamster away when they felt peckish. Fantastic value for money and great quality. I strongly recommend doing this with Craigend Nursery or perhaps some place local the where you live.

Not long after the breakfast Floral Heaven delivered the bouquets and flower halos for the flower girls. I could not believe how beautiful the flowers were. A wee tip I found for ordering flowers was to collect pictures on Pinterest. It really helped me show the florist what I liked and didn't like. I love gardening already and knew the flower and foliage names and found this really helped me when discussing what I was looking for. I found Floral Haven to be really accommodating and they really listened to what I wanted and didn't want, which is great as I was quite specific. I was absolutely delighted with the flowers they delivered. If you can get a sample of the colour of fabric the bridesmaids have and want the flowers to tie into them I would suggest brining it with you and perhaps leaving a little of the fabric behind so the florist has the exact shade to help them choose flowers in the rights tones. Floral Haven used some pink floral wire so the more delicate flowers looked like the were floating around my bouquet at the bottom. I loved the flowers from there and would highly recommend them!

I work nearby the Glenbervie House Hotel and used a florist based in Grangemouth called Les Fleurs florist to deliver flowers for the venue as it was highly recommended to me. I was blown away with the rings of flowers they created for the table centres and the flowers they created for the top table. They really were stunning and great value for money. Again, I used images from Pinterest to help me convey what I was looking for. Suzie who owns the shop was amazing and the service from her daughter Morgan was first class. They even found candles to mach the flowers for us to complete the look. I can’t recommend this shop enough. The bouquets she made for MOB and MOG were also stunning. She is a talented lady indeed!

My cousin helped me get into my dress not long after this the wedding cars arrived. We used two companies. The cars for the bridesmaids were from White Wedding Cars and looked absolutely stunning. Our car was provided by Just Wedding Cars and I thought it was amazing. The driver was lovely. The car was clean and shiny new. It really was special being in the car and I am so glad we chose the car by just wedding cars. Before it came to pick me up it had picked up my husband, his ushers and best men. Being such a big car it held 6 men on the way to the church. I cant recommend Just Wedding Cars or White Wedding Cars enough.

Well that is the second part completed for today. I am away to walk my dog. Unfortunately on the wedding day he stayed with a neighbour and could not be at the wedding with us – too dangerous to have all those claws near such a delicate dress. However, he got dressed up for a few photos in the morning. I will attach his picture below. :P
